Reflections gathered entries and began the judging process. In Jan. participants gathered to celebrate their art. Preschool – 5th graders got to shop at both the Book Fair and the Holiday Shoppe. The Grant Committee was able to award grants to all the applicants bringing books, technology, and musical instruments to our classrooms. Several classes went on field trips; the Choir sang the National Anthem at the Angels Game and Band was able to go to Disneyland. Sixth Grade ventured to the Getty Villa to bring to Greek and Roman History to life. Upper Grade Bears have used Scholastic News and Flocabulary to support their learning and Lower Grades have stayed organized with agendas and folders. We have presented books monthly through Adopt a Book. These books can be found in the library after the recipients enjoy them.We supported our community while wearing pajamas with Wear a Pair, Bring a Pair, fundraised while cleaning out our closets with Cash 4 Clothes, and learned how to be Drug Free with Red Ribbon Week.
- 6th Grade ACE Experience – Sixth Grade was our first Upper Grades class to go on their ACE Field Trip! On Mon, 1/6, our Bears loaded onto charter busses and headed north to the Getty Villa. The Getty Villa houses 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities to explore. Our Bears used a scavenger hunt to guide them through the grounds and antiquities. Thank you to our teachers and volunteers who made this field trip possible. We know this trip was scheduled close to the holidays and may have come as a surprise. LFTK8 PTSA was able to fund the trip, but if you did not have a chance to contribute to the ACE fund, we are still accepting donations. Your donation will stay with your student as they move through the Upper Grades, so you can be sure your student benefits.
