Wrap Up 2024 – 2025: Thank Yous, Last Week News, and Save the Dates

As we close the 2024-2025 school year there is so much to celebrate! Thank you to our new Cultural Celebration Committee for hosting our inaugural Multicultural Fair. It was a raging success!

Collectively our PTSA volunteered over 7,750 hours around campus. That is almost $300,000 of unpaid labor for the good of our Bears! THANK YOU EVERYONE! With these hours and our collective efforts, PTSA funded over $150,000 in programs and support around campus. What an AMAZING feat!

25/26 5th Grade Boosters are selling candy leis for 5th and 8th graders. If you preordered your lei, find BOOSTERS on campus the day of your celebration. Leis will also be available for purchase the day of celebrations for $20. THIS IS NOT A PTSA SPONSORED FUNDRAISER. All funds will support 5th grade science camp and activities.

Middle School Families: Please mark your calendars for important August dates, including Packet Pickup, Registration, and Orientation. These days are extremely important to our Middle School PTSA Programs and will get your Middle School started on the right foot!

A BIG BEAR BASH THANK YOU! Thank you to our wonderful community for a successful night! Everyone had a great time partying the night away! Volunteers came from all corners of our community; Tesoro, PAL, ASB, parents from all grade levels, and even some alumni. Thank you to Mr. Russo for being our DJ, the choir for performing, and our emergency workers for bringing their vehicles. Thank you to our Bear Bash Committee for their hard work. Thank you to our generous sponsors! We will see you again next year!

BOOK FAIR IS COMING NEXT WEEK! Last Day for PreOrders, Silent Auction is Live and Book Fair is Next Week

Bear Bash is HERE! Pre-sales have closed, but you can still join us! Tickets will be available for $1 a piece and a limited amount of food will be avaiable for purchase. If you pre-ordered you can pick you packets up at the pre-order window of the ticketing table. If your ticket bundle included a “jail time” we will post schedules at ticketing and the Jail.

Our Silent Auction is going strong! If you are looking for some great summer camps for your Bears, Date Nights away from the kids, or fun family adventures we have items for you! Swifties we have an authentic signed guitar! There is a 2 night get a way at the Ranch in Laguna. Lots of amazing options.

Lastly, our Book Fair is next week. Please volunteer to help your child’s class shop the sale! We can’t wait to see you all on Friday!

Week 30 – Bear Bash TICKETS, DONATIONS, VOLUNTEERS, and a Hospitality Request

Bear Bash is COMING! Join us 3/28 from 5-8pm at LFTK8 playground. Tickets, Food, and Treats are on Sale! We are still accepting sponsorships and silent auction donations. We ware also seeking raffle basket donations and volunteers. It’s all hands on deck! We are also seeking help hosting a green snack bar for our staff!

Week 25 – Bear Bash is Coming Soon!

Help us make our WHOLE SCHOOL Fundraiser a raging success! Bring your WHOLE family and your friends to our school fair and silent auction. All funds raised will support our Bears preschool -8th grade through programs that provide one way window coverings, fields trips, library improvements, classroom supplies, STEAM equipment, PE equipment, Flocabulary, and Scholastic News just to name a few. Our most urgent need is for sponsorships and silent auction items. Please consider participating as a sponsor and/or contributing items to the Bear Bash. Any items, large or small, help the Silent Auction Team. Restaurant and retail gift cards, event tickets, beauty services, photography sessions, anything you think our community members would enjoy! Week 22 – Looking Forward to 2025

LFES PTA was hard at work around campus this Fall and Winter.  The year began with Registration and the Ice Cream Social.  Families got to know their teachers, buy the products they needed for the year, and learn about the PTSA.Everyone was given the chance to show their school spirit through their new Spirit Wear.

Reflections gathered entries and began the judging process.  In Jan. participants gathered to celebrate their art.  Preschool – 5th graders got to shop at both the Book Fair and the Holiday Shoppe.  The Grant Committee was able to award grants to all the applicants bringing books, technology, and musical instruments to our classrooms.  Several classes went on field trips; the Choir sang the National Anthem at the Angels Game and Band was able to go to Disneyland.  Sixth Grade ventured to the Getty Villa to bring to Greek and Roman History to life.  Upper Grade Bears have used Scholastic News and Flocabulary to support their learning and Lower Grades have stayed organized with agendas and folders.  We have presented books monthly through Adopt a Book.  These books can be found in the library after the recipients enjoy them.We supported our community while wearing pajamas with Wear a Pair, Bring a Pair, fundraised while cleaning out our closets with Cash 4 Clothes, and learned how to be Drug Free with Red Ribbon Week.

  1. 6th Grade ACE Experience – Sixth Grade was our first Upper Grades class to go on their ACE Field Trip!  On Mon, 1/6, our Bears loaded onto charter busses and headed north to the Getty Villa.  The Getty Villa houses 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities to explore.  Our Bears used a scavenger hunt to guide them through the grounds and antiquities.  Thank you to our teachers and volunteers who made this field trip possible. We know this trip was scheduled close to the holidays and may have come as a surprise.  LFTK8 PTSA was able to fund the trip, but if you did not have a chance to contribute to the ACE fund, we are still accepting donations.  Your donation will stay with your student as they move through the Upper Grades, so you can be sure your student benefits.
  2. All School Bigno Night – Are you looking for a NEW fun Family Night?  Join us Friday, 1/31, from 5:30 – 7:00pm  in the Las Flores MPR.  Bingo Cards will be on sale for $5 per card; a card can be used all night.  Pizza and snacks will be available for purchase.  This is an ALL school event.  Family and friends are welcome! *Please note all students must have a supervising adult in attendance.
  3. Class of 2029 Hoodies – Incoming class of 2029 hoodies are now available to pre order between the dates of 1/6/25 and 1/17/25. The cost is $40 & will be available for pick up at the Titan Showcase on 1/27/25. All info is also available on the Tesoro Student Store instagram.
  4. Bear Bash is Coming Soon – Carnival Rides! FOOD! Silly String Farm! FRIENDS!  JOIN US!Do you want to get involved? We need help with decorations, snack stand, volunteer organization, general planning, and silent auction.  Please contact Sara Jack, saraqjack@gmail.com, to find out more.
  5. Leadership for 2025-2026 – Las Flores TK8 PTSA is proud of the work we have done to merge two groups, LFES PTA and LFMS PTSA,  into one dynamic PTSA serving our whole school.  We understand our school is unique blend of 3 school populations; Las Flores, Tijeras Creek and Wagon Wheel.  With leaders from all 3 schools we built support system honoring ALL of our Bears, preschool – eighth grade.  We look forward continuing this work into year two. Nomination season is upon us and we are looking for our next group of volunteers!  No matter what your passion, talents, or available time, we have space for you.  The LFTK8 Executive Board will serve preschool – 8th grade.  The two Vice Presidents, a VP of Upper Grades and a VP of Lower, that will work specifically with their groups.  Similarly, we will have committees serving the whole school and specific programs.  Please refer to the organization chart for more information. There is a place for you to get involved in any way that works for you.

Week 14 – Wrapping Up November and Looking Forward to December

The Holidays are around the corner. We know the weeks between Thanksgiving and Winter Break fly by please put these events on your calendar!

  1. Thank you to all of you for your generous support of the Clothing Drive. We collected over 200 bags of textiles! We are very excited to get the official numbers back. Huge thank you to Shannon Calligori for organizing the event.
  2. Please join us for our next Association Meeting, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 7pm in the Library. We will review our succesful Fall Fundraisers, announce an exciting new project and begin planning for the Spring.
  3. Our Annual Bring a Pair, Wear a Pair PJ Drive is scheduled for December 4, 2024. Please bring a pair of new with tags pair of pajamas to drop off and wear a school appropiate pair. All sizes infant – adult are needed for our military families. PTSA and PAL will collect the items at the front of the school.
  4. The Holiday Shop is coming to the Lower Grades, 12/2-12/06. Students will get a chance to buy gifts for their loved ones with funds sent by families. Kids love to practice using money and the independence of finding the perfect way. It’s a great way to kick off the holiday season! We will need parent volunteers to help students with shopping and wrapping. Please sign up here.
  5. One of our staff’s favorite events, the Annual Cookie Walk, is December 12, 2024. Our Hospitality Team needs your help baking treats for our 100 staff members. We are looking for enough home-made or extra special treats for each staff member to be able to fill a bakery box. That’s A LOT of cookies! Please help us here.

Week 12 – Wrapping Up and Looking Forward

Soooooooo much going on!

  1. The Jog a Thon was a great success. We raised over $39,000 with your support! These funds will help our students go on field trips, allow teachers to purchase needed materials for their classrooms, supply new playground equipment and so much more. As we wrap up the event with prizes and celebrations we are looking for a few helpers. Click here for help!
  2. Spirit Wear is back on sale with new designs. Items will be available from Nov 4 – Nov 15 and will arrive before the holidays. Click here to order.
  3. Our clothing drive is entering its last push. Bring in your labelled bags of textiles and LFK8 PTSA will be paid by the weight of our collection. We are also looking for volunteers to help move bags from the front of school to the storage room. Please sign up here to help!
  4. Upcoming events! Nov 14th 4-8pm Board and Brew Ladera Ranch is sponsoring a Family Night out. 20% of sales will go come right to PTSA. Dec 4th will be our all school Bring a Pair, Wear a Pair PJ Day. Bring your new with tags pajamas and wear your school appropriate pajamas to school. Sizes from infant – adult (for older teens) are needed to help Operation Santa Claus and our military families. Non holiday prints are appreciated.

Week 11 – The Jog a Thon Success, Clothing Drive Collections and Red Ribbon Week!

LFK8 PTSA is so excited about our programming this year; fundraisers and activities are coming together and our Bears are having a blast.

  1. Lower Grades Jog a Thon – The biggest fundraiser of the year has been a great success! As of Monday afternoon we had collected close to $39,000! Thank you all for your support of our programs. Please stay tuned for more details on prizes.
  2. All Grades – Our Clothing Drive is happening! Clean out your closets and help the PTSA earn money! Please label all bags LFK8 PTSA? We are seeking volunteer to help move bags from the front of school to the storage room. All you need is 30 min and a wagon. Please click here to help.
